Overview

Shortlisted for ArtEvol 2025 at Saatchi Gallery, London, UK

FADE WITHIN holds two nested squares within translucent soap: one saturated red, one diffused. The geometry is precise at the outset — nested, ordered, contained. Over time, as the soap slowly dissolves, the distinction between the two reds migrates and disappears. Fixed form becomes fluid sensation.

The work was shortlisted for ArtEvol 2025 at Saatchi Gallery, London, and sits within my ongoing One to Zero practice — a body of work exploring the aesthetics of disappearance, and the question: Can disappearance be a form of completion?

The collector does not own a static object; they share time with a process. Whether they choose to use the work or simply live alongside it, the outcome is the same — gradual loss, and the memory produced through it.

Colour fades. The inner form follows.

What remains cannot be owned. It is held in memory, differently, by each person who encountered it.
